HandBrake is an open-source, GPL-licensed, multiplatform, multithreaded DVD to MPEG-4 ripper, available for MacOS X, A a linux systemunix systemunix and Windows.
Supported sources: HandBrake is not limited to DVDs: it will now accept to basically any type of film as a resource.
Outputs:
File format: MP4, MKV, AVI or OGM
Video: MPEG-4 or H.264 (1 or 2 goes or ongoing quantizer/rate encoding)
Audio: AAC, MP3, Vorbis or AC-3 pass-through (supports growth of several audio tracks)
